Silk Road Chinese Cuisine: bringing automation to a busy restaurant

A restaurant’s website is often the first touch point for consumers searching for a place to dine. Restaurateurs should, therefore, be vigilant when it comes to updating and managing their websites.
Napkin recently helped to lead Silk Road Chinese Cuisine restaurant, to get more from their website and Facebook page.

Situated in the heart of San Gwann, Malta, Silk Road is in the main artery of Triq Il-Naxxar, with close proximity to the hustle and bustle of the shopping area.

We gave Silk Road a brand refresh, adding a bit of colour to their brand. In addition, we created their website, which represents the unique style of Silk Road and has functionalities to help them grow their business.

One of these functionalities is the dynamic menu that allows customers to click on items they would like and add them to a section called “My Order.” With a simple click, customers are able to order their takeaway or delivery, choose the time and date they would like the meal and pay on delivery or at the restaurant. This gives customers the two things they need when ordering online: ease and convenience.

The website also has a Dine-in menu for those who would like to spend the evening in the cosy restaurant. Customers can place their orders and find their food ready when they arrive. This helps to cut waiting time for the client. It also helps the restaurant staff to get better organized and provide better service as they can plan in advance when to cook and how much food to prepare.

We know the importance of giving a background of the business to customers, and so we created an “About Us” page, that carries the story behind Silk Road. We have also made it easy for customers to find Silk Road, by including a “Contacts” page that contains details such as opening hours, email address, and a Facebook page link. In addition, the site has a Google map to help customers get directions to the restaurant and show nearby places of interest, which is important as some people may want to dine near a place that they would be visiting that day.

For customers’ convenience, we have created a “Book Now” page, for those who would like to reserve a table in the restaurant. A simple form helps the customers to easily get in touch with the restaurant and reserve their dinner.

In addition to the website, we are managing Silk Road’s Facebook page, which is fundamental to connecting and interacting with current and potential customers. We help the restaurant to carry out meaningful conversation with consumers and create content that amplifies the brand’s visibility. We know the value of connecting with customers and help Silk Road share user generated content (UGC) to spread the message about the restaurant and build loyalty.
